Hyaloclastite - Nom commun

• (Pétrographie) Roche volcanique formée par le refroidissement rapide de lave au contact de l'eau, entraînant une fragmentation explosive suivie d'une consolidation des fragments.

  Dans son article passionnant, le géologue écrivait : « On y découvre un spectre d'hyaloclastites ; ces roches volcaniques fascinantes formées par le spectacle dramatique du refroidissement instantané de la lave en contact avec l'eau, provoquant une fragmentation explosive et une consolidation ultérieure des fragments ».
