Tout commença avec la zidovudine ou azidothymidine (AZT), un inhibiteur nucléosidique (INTI) d’abord développé sans succès en oncologie, et dont l’autorisation de mise sur le marché (AMM) fut pour ainsi dire accordée en urgence en 1987.
